Escape Room FAQs

A list of the most frequently asked questions about our escape rooms. We strongly suggest that you review these, especially if you are new to escape rooms.

General Questions

+ What is an escape room?

Escape rooms are a type of live, adventure game in which players are immersed in a new atmosphere for one hour. Players must use elements of the game, find clues, and solve puzzles to escape. Friends, family, co-workers, and the like will all enjoy these team-driven experiences.

+ What does it cost?

For the remainder of 2024: On Wednesday through Thursday, prices start at $44 for 2 players, then each additional player costs $22. Friday through Sunday, prices start at $88 for 2-4 players, then each additional player costs $22. Amaze-ing Cafe & Bakery is always $44 for 1-2 players, then $22 for each additional player. For 2025: Pricing varies per room and day. Please use the booking calendar to determine the cost of your game. Additionally, the City of Lynchburg requires us to collect a 7% Amusement Tax on all admissions. Special Events, or any bookings made outside of our normal business hours, are subject to special pricing.

+ Where in Lynchburg, VA are you located?

Our address is 2264 Lakeside Drive, Suite A, Lynchburg, VA 24501. We are conveniently located in Central Virginia with easy access from Roanoke, Danville, and Charlottesville.

+ What are your hours of operation?

Our regular hours of operation are Wednesday 1PM-7PM, Thursday 4PM-8:30PM, Friday 4PM-10PM, Saturday 11:30AM-10:00PM and Sunday 1PM-7PM. Please check our Facebook Page or view our booking calendar for special hours surrounding holidays. We reserve the right to close early if there are no bookings. Team building and private events can be booked outside of normal operating hours. Send us a message via our Contact page with the time and date you're interested in.

+ Is there an age limit?

No; however, we recommend our games for participants aged 8 and up. Guests under 16 years old need to be accompanied by at least one participating adult. Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign a [waiver] for them 4.

+ What will I need to bring?

Every participant will need to bring a signed waiver with them. If you're under the age of 18, you'll need a parent or guardian to sign your [waiver] for you 4. If you're under the age of 16 you'll also need a participating adult to accompany you.

+ What time should I arrive?

We require groups to arrive 15 minutes prior to your booking time. Late arrivals will result in less time in the room.

+ Is your business handicap accessible?

Yes, all of our current games are on the ground level, but Amaze-ing Cafe & Bakery is too small for wheelchair accessibility.

+ Can I bring my service animal with me?

Of course! You are more than welcome to bring your service animal with you. Please include a note about needing to bring your service animal when making your booking so we are aware of the situation.

+ Do you offer discounts?

We occassionally offer discounts and contests on our Facebook page and email newsletter list.

+ What about inclement weather?

We care about the safety of our customers and our employees. We follow all local & federal inclement weather policies. Should such an event occur on a day that you are booked, you will be able to reschedule for a later date.

Rooms

+ Will we really be locked in a room?

You will have the illusion of being "locked" in a room with the door shut. The door will always be unlocked for the safety of our guests in case you need to leave or take a break.

+ Are your escape rooms scary?

Each of our rooms will have a unique theme. Some themes may have a spooky atmosphere, but our intention is not to scare you.

+ Which room should I choose?

If you've done escape rooms before you're welcome to choose any room that appeals to you. If you're new to escape rooms, then we recommend starting with our lowest difficulty to get a feel for the activity before you jump into our harder rooms. Each room has a difficulty rating listed with it on our rooms page.

Booking

+Do I need a reservation?

We highly recommend that you book online via our Booking page so your room is reserved. If available, a room can be booked up to 30 minutes prior to the start time of the room during regular business hours. Special business hours may need to be booked even further in advance.

+ Will I be in a room with people I don’t know?

No, One Way Out offers private booking for all rooms.

+ Do I need to purchase all tickets for the room?

No. All of our games are private, so you only need to purchase the minimum number of tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased upon arrival.

+ Can I get a refund or reschedule my booking?

No refunds will provided for booking cancellations or no-shows. Please call or email us if you would like to reschedule your game. Games can be rescheduled or issued store credit if you notify us at least 2 hours before your start time. Games rescheduled with less than a 2 hour notice or rescheduled more than twice will be charged a $25 rescheduling fee.

+ Do you offer a space to use for a meal, meeting, or party?

No, we do not currently offer a space for a meal, meeting, or party.

+ Do you cater for special events?

No, we do not offer any catering options.

+ Can I bring cake, presents, or other food to share in the lobby?

No, please do not bring any cake, presents, or other food items to share in the lobby. There will be other customers entering and exiting the building that will also need to utilize the space for their game. We also do not have anywhere to store presents or food while you play your game. Please leave any presents or food in your vehicle or store the items in the game with you.
